LINGUA FRANCA
The need to communicate in a foreign language can often come up in unexpected places, and it’s important to be prepared.
Many people who come to lessons at Centro Linguistico have found themselves in situations in which they need or want to communicate with other people. These situations include anything from international business conferences to small talk in a cafe in foreign countries. Sometimes international experiences can even pop up in your own hometown.
At our school, we have teachers from all over the world -- England, the United States, Spain, Italy, and Scotland, to name a few -- who bring their own experiences with foreign languages into the classroom. This first-hand knowledge provides continuity between the teachers and the students. This continuity leads to a curiosity, motivation, and authenticity that encourages our students to speak with the world at large.
In terms of English, we base our approach on the idea that there is no single "perfect" English. Since our students often use English as a LINGUA FRANCA in many different situations, and with people from all over the world who rarely have a standard English accent, we choose to focus on helping them feel confident when speaking English. This approach also allows our students to have fun with English.
