Language of Love


Have you ever wanted to impress your lover with some romantic phrases in a foreign language?

Italian is known around the world for being one of the most romantic modern languages, but did you know English also has lots of colourful vocabulary to express your deepest feelings this Valentine's Day?

  • In a heartbeat: instantly; immediately; without delay
    • I love being on the beach. In fact, I would move to Hawaii in a heartbeat.
  • Puppy love: intense but relatively shallow romantic attachment, especially with adolescents
    • When Jenny was young, she was sure she'd marry James. Now she realizes it was just puppy love.
  • Head over heels in love: madly in love
    • I have been head over heels in love with my husband since the day we met. 
  • Heart-to-heart: an intimate, personal conversation
    • My best friend and I had a heart-to-heart yesterday after our fight, and now things are much better.
  • A change of heart: a move to a different opinion or attitude
    • She was going to move to a new house, but then she had a change of heart and decided to wait.
